Learn how to play The Rover, as performed by Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page on guitars) released as part of their 1975 Physical Graffiti album. Great rocker with two primary guitar tracks, one drenched with a generous helping of Phaser effect, the other more cleaned up to stand out as the solo guitar.
The lesson covers all the rhythm and lead guitar parts.

Missed it on Jump Street, but Goodfellas featured it it in a couple of scenes! Dunnno how I missed it’s original release! Thanks for this!
Thanks man!
David Lee Roth has a cover of this song out, fun 😊
Thank you!
Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
i love this
That is such a SUPERB TUTORIAL!!!
Thank you!
Excellent lesson. Would love to see one for "I Looked Away" too.
Great job, BTW there is an album called "Derek and the Dominoes In Concert " that has ECs best playing IMHO, Not the reissue cd fillmore east version, I bought it from the cut - out bin twice, the In Concert Lp has Bobby Whitlock 's vocals and Organ/Piano mixed more to the fore and has different better versions of the songs it can be found on UA-cam. Check it out friends I feel Clapton was at his best when he was with the Dominos/with and without the late Great Duane Allman, I feel that Duane put a fire under Clapton s ass that lasted on through this album ps Got to get Better in a Little While " was going to be on Derek and the Dominoes unreleased second studio album .
Thank you!!
I remember hearing this song during my drug years and thinking what will happen to me when I die and what about Jesus. So a hippy Jesus friend shared with me that Jesus dug ( Loved ) me and that I could know Him personally and that it was a relationship not some boring cold religion. So I said Jesus I ask you in my life and such joy I felt and freedom and hope and never went back to drugs and that was 1981 and still following Jesus. Hey He loves each of you and if you are at all open I would encourage you also to open your heart to Him and Check out the Gospel of John in the Bible or the Gospel of John movie on UA-cam 😊
Imagine 60 years later we are still talking about one chord...not an entire song but one chord.
Gimme shelter is a masterpiece! And that quiet dark opening riff is like the tense calm before the wild storm hits, like dark clouds gathering.
...although Jimmy Page... I was there in the 70's - 80's....
Great explanation...but it was fron Little Richard...😊😊😊
Not that simple though, right? Sound yes, beat no
music theory is so much fun
Great stuff! If you're Robin Trower Fan I have a bunch of Robin Trower lessons posted on my channel. (Link is at bottom of Post )The only criticism I have for your lessons is NOT to include any TAB for any music. Looking at you I'd guess we were about the same age and grew up learning songs on a record player/Cassette player. TAB cripples young players. THEY WILL NEVER TRAIN THEIR EAR using TAB, I learned 90% of the tunes I know by ear. Lets see a 5 year players get invited on stage and jam with a few guys if they don't know the song. It would be a disaster. Just a 45 year left handed rocker adding my 2 cents. Cheers. Rob. ua-cam.com/users/williswet
That with both pick ups on?
that was bridge only
With all due respect, I disagree with the end of the verse bit: C Am D Am9. I believe it's a Bm instead of the D.
you are right, I had that chord wrong, I realized a while back. I may update and repost at some point. Glad you caught that though
In his memoir, in 1979 "I Me Mine" George said it was Ringo who misread it. Great lesson by the way.
great instructions. Thank you
cool make sense
❤😊..
Give me a break when they were fooling around with it Jimmy asked him what he was doing it was the beginning to a little Richard song you keep on knocking
You are spot on … thank you
I've got a Fender Vintera 50's Modded Tele, and I definitely think that 4th position in-series position is THE sound of early Zep. Pair it with the JHS Superbolt (Supro amp-style pedal) and I'm rockin' "Communication Breakdown" for days. Anyway, great lesson, this one of my very favorite Zep tracks, it's kind of unique in their catalog.
Another excellent song and lesson. Thank you!
Great teaching. Thanks a bunch.
Nice
Love your channel Doug. Is there any chance you could do Jimmy Page's "Writes of Winter"? No one on youtube has ever created a lesson for it. It's one of his masterpieces and many of us would love to know how to play it. Thanks.
well i would love to, just being such a JP fan. but there is a LOT going on in that song guitar wise (as you know). That would take a lot of time to put a video lesson on that together. will be hard to prioritize that time. but I do have a lot of JP stuff I want to get to. I know it wasn't popular, but I got Outrider when it came out back in 88 and wore that CD out. Wish he had better consistent singer for that album. I love a lot of that record. I still get super hyped when I hear "Wasting My Time".
John and Paul fighting, quests Paul left and wouldn't play bass. John was always so cutting edge like a knife 😊.......go Johnny go.

Thanks for the best explanation of how to play the intro that I've found so far on UA-cam!
Great tutorial! Love the deep color on that SG special.
Cute!! I knew it wasn't rocket science
Que nojento este UA-cam , não colocam tradução em português , que saco
How interesting. Great post.
Thanks!
Thank you!
YES!!!!! I've had a long ongoing argument on this (capo at 4) ALL BECAUSE OF THAT ONE VIDEO why put a capo on to fake play - and they were traveling - more likely that they wouldn't have it capo'd in this situation
Wonder why they never played this live much
This is great! Many thanks for this.
what about the descending lead at the end?
That's the bass, right?
❤. Thank you so much for this!! Kind regards from Ian, in the UK.
This is the best teaching version as its spot on 😊
Great upload .Simple when you know how but thats genius for you.Just one thing what about the lead fills that answer the vocal on the second verse.Could never figure them out. Also is there an acoustic strumming somewhere in the mix?
Thanks
Ive been waiting for this one for ages … I think I may have even requested it sometime 🤔🤔. Anyway awesome awesome lesson as usual . More jimmy page plz 🤙🏻🤙🏻😊🙌🏻
Noodling huh 😂
